Description
Rex’s Dual Power system uses two source windings, each optimised for a different engine speed range. Their combined output produces exceptionally high ignition energy across the rev range, with far more spark energy of conventional self-generating ignition systems.
Originally developed for competition use, the Dual Power stator provides a strong, reliable spark for standard, high-compression and high-revving engines, including operation beyond the standard engine red line.
The photograph shows standard ignition on the left and our Dual Power ignition on the right, both operating at the same engine speed. The difference in spark energy is clearly visible.
We manufacture our electronic ignition modules in-house, allowing the ignition characteristics to be matched specifically to each motorcycle model. Full Race stators also feature slotted mounting holes, allowing the ignition timing to be fine-tuned to suit the engine.
Full Race systems are supplied as ignition-only and are designed specifically for competition use. They are not intended for continuous road use.
Requires flywheel stamped FOTO1971
Fits Yamaha DT250 A–C models, 1974–1976.
• Dual source winding system for exceptionally high spark energy
• Adjustable stator combined with a model-specific ignition timing curve
• Retains the standard flywheel for low vibration and good engine tractability
• Strong starting performance hot or cold, producing a spark from approximately 150 RPM
• New high-power HT coil included
Competition Use
Full Race systems are designed to provide maximum ignition performance under competition conditions. This places greater thermal and electrical demands on the stator than our road-going systems.
They are intended for competition use where periods of hard running are followed by opportunities for the system to cool between races, heats or trials sections. For this reason, Full Race systems do not carry a continuous-use rating and are not sold as suitable for normal road or touring use.
For motorcycles used regularly on the road, we recommend one of our road ignition kits, which are specifically designed and rated for continuous operation.
