Description
Our new (2026 version) Roadster kits are designed to eliminate ignition and charging problems in one straightforward installation. Electrics connect directly to the standard Yamaha wiring loom* and require only basic set-up. The system retains the original AC lighting arrangement while natively upgrading the electrical system to 12-volt operation, giving noticeably brighter lighting. We stock kits with 12 volt horns, bulbs batteries etc.
The kit replaces the ageing ignition and charging components which, after nearly half a century, have often become a source of unreliability. This version now features an adjustable billet stator plate, precision-machined and accurately assembled to allow dialling in of timing.

DT400 B&C 1975-76
MX400B 1975 – External flywheel type of generator only. The MX has no need of lighting, ask about Competition version
IT400C 1976 -Came with only basic lighting. This kit is intended for DT road lights and is not ‘plug and play’ with IT electrics, ask about an AC version.
YZ400C 1976 -This model came without lights. Ask about a ‘Competition’ version without lighting.
Competition & AC lighting versions available recommended for MX, IT & YZ models. See RMK-9, this gives vastly increased spark energy and adjustable base timing point, also no requirement for lights to be fitted to the machine.
*Minor variations in connectors are sometimes found on older machines or non-domestic models, but these present no difficulty in practice but may require a connector swap.
