A new CDI is only one part of the ignition system. On systems over 15 years old, other ageing components can strongly affect CDI operation, and in some cases may even prevent a new unit from functioning as intended. Age is a huge factor for electrical components, including NOS. Even if they appear to give good test results, old electrical parts regularly cause problems.
